Last, but certainly not least, are photoelectric detectors. Photoelectric detectors use specially designed light sensors to detect smoke patterns that originate from slow burning fires. By reflecting light through the system’s chamber, photoelectric detectors effectively detect smoke that originates from a smoldering source such as a cigarette that falls into a flammable material.
